Hi everybody. I know this might not b correct thread to post my question but as it is related to airtel i m posting here. I m using two point trick on my mobile. But i m not able to download any file bigger than 2 mb on my mobile even with opera or netfront from sites like megaupload. It says downloading media failed as file is too large to converge at proxy . As this trick gives only simple gprs we cant use fget to download big files. So any one can tell me how i can download big files on my mobile. Thanks mate

i m not getting it ! wat spartan is trying to say .. i went thru all the steps n when i dialled the port ..... means airtel number on pc then its saying " readialling " n giving some error message that could not connect " oh gosh i m not geeting anything !

Msum,when u query ur modem,there shud be success which u r not gettin so it must be some hardware prob. By the way which software did u use to style up windows?

If you have installed PC suite, modem will be automatically included in the windows inf folder. What you have to do is install it via going to control panel. That's all.

I have just tested this trick in Windows Vista and it's working like a charm. As I said before, I'm using bluetooth.

I am able to browse using our Airtel GPRS in Vista. Internet is faster than XP. Vista Beta2 rocks. But you may not able to find device drivers of some of your devices like PCTV cards. I am also not able to find that.
Anyways, you require a high-end machine. 1.5GHZ processor & 512 DDR ram. My machine has AMD 64 2.2GHZ processor & 1GB DDR Ram.

Lol i didnt mean vista's looks! And IE 7 has faults as well.Vista certainly is faster wit the new technology which opens frequently used apps faster. My processor is good but i got only 256MB ddr ram.Will it work?If U hav link,plz post it. And any security issues?

I can't see any IE7 faults in Vista bcoz it's system integrated. It's not possible to install Vista on 256MB ram. For me, it took 40 minutes to install whereas XP takes only 10-12 minutes. I got that DVD from a friend. I have not downloaded it from Internet.

I think you are using XP.
Go to Start->Control Panel->Printers & Other hardwares-> and then click Phone & Modem options. A windows will appear showing the area code & location. Click Modems tab and then click "Add". Then "Add Hardware Wizard" appears. Check "Don't detect my modem. I will select it from a list" and click next. Then a box appear having 2 list sections. In the left side, select Nokia. Then in right side, Nokia model listing appears. Select "Nokia 6610i cable" and click next. Select the port where your serial cable is installed and click next. This will install modem. After that create a dial-up connection for the modem and use *99***1# to dial. That's all.
But in phone, go to menu->connectivity and enter airtelfun.com in the Access point in use option(don't remember correctly).

I think u must hav got it now msum.If u havent read this. Click on start menu,on right side where control panel option comes there's an option to connect usin.In that click on show all conn.In the window that opens there's an option create new conn on left jus click it.And enter diallin no *91***1#.

did u try the diagnostics of the modem? If not it's in Control Panel -> Phone and Modem Options -> Modems -> ((Your phone, i.e., 6610i)) -> Properties -> Diagnostics -> Query modem.

Dear msum,
I'm pretty sure, you have installed the modem to a wrong port. In XP, you can't install modem to COM1. Another mistake you have done is you haven't selected the Nokia Modem from the list while creating Dial-up connection.
In majority of Nokia Phones(as far as I know), only *99***1# works. If you try other numbers, you get errors like the error you shown in the screenshot.

hey msum..select only nokia6610i as your modem and try querying it..if it does not work..change the comm port and try again..u will hav no problem with it and also use *99***1#...cheers

Dear msum,
Are u able to connect your phone to PC Suite? If yes, then it surely indicates that you have installed cable drivers correctly. Else, you have to install correct drivers. Please see in Nokia Connection manager to know In which port you are able to connect.
Secondly, you have to disconnect from pc suite. Otherwise the port will not be available for you.
Please see all those things and reply. Sometimes, removing cable from USB port and re-inserting may help.

In majority WinXP systems, COM1 is reserved by OS. I have seen this in 100+ computers. So I suspect this might be the problem with msum. But this is not always true. If your serial cable is installed in COM1, go for it.

hey guys just check these screenshots ....... n alan ya i it successfully connect to pc suite ....
n it get connected on COM4 port .......
n while disconnecting i used to go in manage connection n then select COM1 port then it gets disconnected but now i m confused ........ the thing u asked me that .. to query a modem ..... just check previous screenshot i have taken some screenshot before there .... i selected nokia 6610i Port but i dont know that is that COM4 port ...... so at last u mean to say that the port which i m using in connecting my phone with PC suite ....... i shud do the query on that modem kya ???

@msum i have the same problem with my 7250 on one of my pc's, but it works in the other. For me the windows xp assigns the com port automatically. BTW i'm using the infrared port and not using the nokia suite. Try uninstalling the 6610i driver and let XP autodetect it again. Also try disabling the nokia suite.
