@ALL. Dump this airtel and go for other operators. They have very less GPRS charges. I, and everyone else I suppose, was with airtel only because of free gprs, otherwise their call and sms etc. charges are very high as compared to other operators.

You are 100% right. Here also, we've a operator called Spice Telecom which offers very low tariff plans for Students. This F**kTel is looting money on student plans also. I don't understand why???
Every operator offers very low call rate b/w same operator. But this F**kTel is looting in that too. We've to e-recharge Rs.75/- monthly to get A2A calls for 50ps. Whereas Spice2Spice calls are 10ps/min without any special recharges.

Hey man. What is the fun, remaining with airtel when it has stopped free GPRS.
Go for other operators which give very cheap full GPRS as BSNL or hutch (shortly vodafone-essar). Do you want to be sucked dry of your money by this airtel GPRS at Rs. 600 pm.

Bro, bsnl Gprs sucks.. (especially if you live in a civilized area.,Lol..tats for rohit..Lol..) the speeds are all time. Earlier i use to get speeds like 160kbps but now only 60kbps. Am waiting for what vodafone has to offer before making a switch.

How come free GPRS is working for you. You just go through any of the popular indian blogs. 99% of content in them relate to closure of free GPRS.
Other operators are cashing on this, and are roping in these frustated users of erstwhile free GPRS. Airtel is now doomed for sure.

using minefield, there is no need for useragent. its enough to config proxy. i had done like this.
in my mobile i changed proxy to 211 and
in my browser its config to 99

Yes. Its working fine for me too. Yesterday it was down. But today its back with great speed. b/w 2** is down and 99 is working.

Will try that Sasikmr. . . How ever what i think is that airtels got some sort of automatically programmed timer in their proxy servers. . . Kind of like an on off switch. . . . Its so obvious . . . They know that they can't stop free gprs otherwise they are doomed for sure. . . Mann wait till vodafone comes out with a decent gprs plan i am sure many of airtel sims will end up in the dumps . . .

Btw, there is a free SMS like java application that really works. Guess u guys might be using it already. Its called crickee. The recipients receive sms even if they dont have crickee or havent signed up with crickee. So its cool. Get it from www.crickee.com . the only issue with this is that the recipient gets sms with a url link to the actual msg. So they need to have gprs to read the msg. Otherwise it rocks!!! There is no need to keep crickee running on the fone to receive sms!!! If the recipients have signed up for crickee, they will get a automated fone call from crickee to remind them when they get an sms!!!!! and those who havent signed up will get a sms with a link to ur msg. Its a wicked technology and its absolutely FREE!!!
