Hi slimshady,

Did you see my post regarding the settings for NOKIA 6230 mobiles ?

For clearing the GPRS settings , I think it is enough to delete the GPRS profiles and restarting the phone.

YES, a factory restore will work. But remember, ALL YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST.

Make a backup if you want to do this.

I suggest you to subscribe Airtel Online(Rs.150/90days, call cc to confirm). I think you have same problem that I had before. In Nokia, we can't dial to the second account. Now I am able to get Data only because of Airtel Online. Otherwise, it would not be possible to me.
By the way, I'm shocked by seeing that you lost Rs.10-50. Does Airtel is cutting the balance? 2 days ago, I also lost 13 rupees. So I think someone is spying on Airtel GPRS servers and as soon as they find any high data transfer, they manually cut the balance. So we should be careful.
I'm still trying to find some more IP's using my another Nokia 3120(in that, port number is identified automatically). As soon as I find one, I will post it here. The range would be 100.1.200.1 to 100.1.201.999 It will take lot of time.

Dear AlanDS,

100.1.201.999 is incorrect it should be 100.1.201.255

Anyway ,you will find that the servers 100.1.200.203,100.1.200.213 and 100.1.200.99 will respond

Posted by AlanDS
Oh sorry mate. Even though I am a net engineer, I forgot that the last one is 255. LOL
OK I will try to find all possible.
We should also look for 202.56.231.xxx series ip's. They are GPRS server ip's.

Another thing:
I am planning to buy LG M4410 handset which has EDGE on it. Does having EDGE on our handset makes any difference in speed of our hacked connection?

What kind of videos do you want to download?

Music videos, trailers...

Hi slimshady,

Take a look at this site for music videos

i'm not sure if edge will give a speed boost. my phone is nokia6230 which has edge.. i've not used a normal phone so no idea abt the speed. the download speed i get after 12am is 13kBps (avg. speed). and at other times it is sumfin around 5 to 6 kBps... may b edge boosts the speed.

You cleared my doubt! You are getting such a speed only because of EDGE.
Anyways, as I said earlier, I am going to buy LG M4410 on Monday. It also has EDGE(200Kbps) and I hope I will also able to get about 10KBps after that.

Thanks spidey_nav1 for your reply.

Posted by abhi19
guys EDGE does makes a lot of difference only if ur server is providing hi speed gprs.. But like airtel or hutch gprs speed is around 10kBps then ur phone wont give much more than that..

Posted by spidey_nav1
hey AlanDS, abhi19 may b rite.
just confirm it before buying the phone.(i.e., if u r buying a new phone only for this purpose)
perhaps u can borrow ne of ur friends phone which has edge and check the speed.
and 1 more thing since airtel provides live streaming.. the speed has to be good enough to stream video.. so according to me u may get speeds around 10 to 12KBps..on a edge phone i might b wrong m8 coz thats just my guess.

Hi,
If you get speed around 10-12KBps, then it's bcoz of EDGE. I am saying this bcoz currently my Nokia 6600 is giving only 1.5KB to 2.5KBps speed and I consider it as dead slow bcoz to load a page, it will take 40-50 seconds. That's why I decided to buy LG M4410. I will subscribe to Mobile Office next month which will give speed around 80-100KBps.
By the way, If you or your friend have LG M4410, please give me your reviews on this phone.

Posted by spidey_nav1
hi, AlanDS

check out this http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_m4410-reviews-1193.php

Posted by spartan117
Alan,

I seriously doubt that the speeds are due to EDGE. I usually get speeds of 5-6 KBps at my home. But when I go to my girlfriend's house , it jumps to 8-10 KBps ( could be because of my girlfriend ) . We both have Win XP SP2 . Actually we have cloned systems ,except for my graphics card (Gainward PowerPack GeForce 7800GTX Golden Sample )

Try it at your friends house ( farther the better ).

Also, take a look at the following link

http://www.techtree.com/techt[....]sp?article_id=69884&cat_id=614

it is a review of LG M4410 .

Posted by kosmonov
hey dudes...iam sure that edge enabled phones does not give high data rate on regular gprs network unless the network activates the edge feature in data transmission..& also dont go in for lg m4410 as i have seen many bad reviews about the phone & many problems with the firmware..so if at all u want to go in for a good edge enabled phone go in for a now cheap nok 6630 or if u can afford much more higher models ..& one more thing ..hey spartan the video site u specified rocks..do share such wonderful sites...

Posted by AlanDS
Dear Friends,
Thanks for all your prompt replies.
I just called CC and they said that EDGE is available in Mobile Office. The speed is between 160-200kbps.
What would you say about this?

Posted by kosmonov
hi alan...if wat u confirmed is sure then we r the happiest 2 hear this ...but i dont think airtel money grabbers wouldnt let edge that easily into prepaid cards..may b they offer it with postpaid gprs...& till now i hav not seen anyone use airtel edge even now..even in postpaid...& if we can confirm that edge does exist in prepaid airtel then as u said we all will go for edge enabled phones ..cheers..& sorry i missed wat u said..u said it was for mobile office..then it must b of postpaid gprs...so dudes, any of u using postpaid gprs try it out & share ur experiences...

Dear kosmonov,
You are right. Airtel is giving EDGE to postpaid users. This is because, In Karnataka, Mobile Office is available for only postpaid connections and they charge very high price. i.e 600/-pm(truely moneysuckers).
A GPRS service executive of Airtel called me 3 months ago regarding GPRS connectivity problems on my N6100. At that time he told me to buy a EDGE enabled phone to gain high speed.
By the way, can anyone explain me, What is GPRS class 10? Does this make any difference in Data speed. LG M4410 have this option.

If warranty still remaining, do what that phone said as it seems like serious matter.

I dont know how the SE configurations work but im using the airtelwap access point to access the net. I have a Nokia 6680 and have connected the phone to the pc using usb cable.
