cels with edge show good speeds-avg f 11kBps !!!

Hey friends,
Please note that 6600 is not a good phone for the GPRS use. You can't expect more than 40kbps in that. Continuous disconnections(blinking G icon while connecting) etc... So I would recommend you all Nokia 6630. If You/Your Parents are rich, then go for N-Series.
To work perfectly with Yahoo Messenger, you should have atleast 45kbps connection. Otherwise it will give u problems.

Speed will become less b/w 7pm to 11pm. That's normal. But if u are getting only 1KBps at daytime, then I think there is a problem. Speed mainly depends on the tower(BST),signal strength and Handset. If any of these are faulty, then u will get less speed. The best solution would be checking speed using other handset in ur location.

Yes. You can try Freedom.
Try to uninstall ur Messenger and re-install. If u are using US version, then uninstall that and install INDIAN version. That problem was happened with me too. I followed the above procedure and it worked. Remember, you should have atleast 40-45kbps connection to work with Yahoo Messenger smoothly.

Just visit http://in.messenger.yahoo.com/ and download. You can't download this using free gprs connection(it will take ages). So it's recommended to use a regular Internet connection.

hey alanDS my friend has n6021 and he is using mobile office through infra red port i think that set sucks but he says he has a very good speed of abt 6-10kB/s. why that happens?

I think his handset has EDGE(I'm not sure).
Anyways, u have to quit one connection. So while using net in pc, you should have only modem connection active. Quit all other connections like Airtel Live etc.. after getting full internet in pc.

Speakin of 6600, we all must agree that it is not a good phone for this trick. It is only a class 6 gprs phone which cant give speeds above 28-30 kbps. Besides it has other firmware issues related to frequent disconnection of gprs data connection. It is recommended to use a class 10 gprs phone for best results. I personally feel sony ericsson phones are a better option as even their starting range models come with class 10 gprs and requires minimum configuration for this trick. I am wondering if anybody got this trick working on a motorola since these phones come with some unique options on their gprs menu. . .

@anto if you're on prepaid and your balance is very low, airtel disconnects the gprs service. Just put some money into it and it will be reactivated automatically.

yes i have setted the proxy its not about connecting it gets connected but i cant enter chat rooms , chat rooms get loaded but when i pres enter chat room it takes hell of a time and atlast says CONNECTION TOOK LONG TIME

2 take maximum advantage of this free thin
i would advice u 2 take a new airtel prepaid sim 4 just 99 rs(full talktime now a days) just for this purpose!!
instead of walkin with ur own old airtel connection !!
there must be no prblm as far as 99 rs is concerned,
as i think at least we can easily redeem our 99 rs (that god knows how much more than that 4 heavy downloaders) even if full talktime offer is not avialable at ur place!!!
Advantages of new sim:-
1) u get a new no 2 boast off to ur frendz at least.
(how many numbrz u have??? a cute question now a daysz)
2) in states where its easy 2 get a prepaid sim even without verification,
u get a different un known identity frm operator for such tricky things>
in the event of detection by operator of such activities and action against that u r r not detected at least by identity!!!
3) by the way a new no also for irrating people and takin revenge of those(to a defensive level) who had/are irritating u!!!!!!
