I charged the battery for 7 hours and it didn't yet complete the charging. This is happening for the 3rd phone and the 2nd battery I am trying so it must be my mistake. This happens on both USB and charger.
I thought I knew about mobile phones but I am not.
Any new ideas will be apreciate it.

I have the same problem to. Yesterday i got a new W800i from my Vodafonedealer and the bug is still present. I have tried to load my phone with two different battery chargers. The phones firmware is R1N035.

Posted by sverkalo
I will test it this night also.
I have performed a total restart of the phone, having all of my files to MS.

Are you on Orange by any chance?

Posted by sverkalo
No.I am from Greece.

I have this same problem. It charges up to 80% with the AC adapter and then when I unplug the charger, it reads 98%. I have tried multiple . Please help

I also cannot update the phone via the Sony updater.
It doesn't do anything.

Charge the phone when it's off. If you charge the phon while it's on it never reaches the full 100%.
I also have FW R1N035 and charging with the phone off reaches 100 %. With the phone onnit only reaches 96%.

I will try that and tell you.
But also that I can't update the software is sick.

I do charge with my phone off and I left it overnight and it still stopped at 80% and when I turned it on and checked phone status, it was at 98%

Posted by sverkalo
I believe the problem is on the firmware.
It does exacty yhe same thing to me.
The charging process doesn't stop at all.
It is working all the time but when I unplugging it after some minutes it shows 93% or other.
How could we ask for help from Sony?

Posted by sverkalo
Changed the battery and now it says 100%.
I've left it for over 5 hours because it was a new one.
And probably I'll leave it all night long.
.

And back to 60%.
This phone has got a personality of its own..

Any news on this one?
Still the same.
Service told me they need to have it for 4 days!!!
I said no of course. It's a damn new phone.

batt problem can depend on the batt itself, fw bug or a faulty charger. the best way is the to check another batt in the fone, to check charger with another fone etc i dare to say, there is sg very wrong with this new se batts, many threads are here already with the same problem. or does this bug caused cos of the fw? a statement by se would be more then welcome imo...

There's loads of these threads about...i personally don't have a problem, for the first thread active clickhere

I got it to service and they gave me a reciept that says that the phone has some kind of malfunction, so I could return it and get a new one.For anyone more specialist the error code is 6.
I have already tried 2 different phones and batteries!!!

Posted by BobaFett
so its a kind of hw bug then? i mean, if it cannot be solved by a simple fw upgrade, there is sg very wrong in these fones...

I had the same problem when i got my W800i i rang sony ericsson and they said it could be the firmware or a hardware problem so i sent my phone back and they gave me new phone but same batt so i would say thats your best option

Posted by BobaFett
so if they gave u a new fone, but same batt, its hw then, otherwise an upgrade would have helped imo...

The only thing that bothers me more is that I'll have to re-download the R1A0008.

Posted by sverkalo
The store doesn't want to change it because they say that even if SE has diagnose a problem they don't tell them (they haven't write it to the reciept)to change it!:)

well i have the same problem, although I have only had the phone about 4 days, I have only done one complete drain and recharge. Although its nice to have everything working spot on, I might give this a month or so to sort itself out, after all its got 12 months warranty!

just one thing. The place I bought my phone is miles away (visiting relatives for xmas) is it possible to take my phone to a reputable Sony Ericsson dealer where I live to get anything done under warranty, or will I have to go back to the place I bought it?

Hi,

Here's my personal recommendation:

Take your w800i to your phone operator and ask for a replacement. They have to do it.

I live in Dominican Republic and my mobile phone operator it's Orange (France Telecom). I had the same problem too, tried everything, got battery and charger replacement, fw upgrade, and nothing happens.

The only thing that worked was a replacement.

It seems to be a Sony Ericsson problem with some w800i units. I also have a friend with a k700i with the same symptom.

Good luck!!

I am still waiting for an answer from SE.

Happy New Year.
Finally and after 20 days SE told me to take it to service, so to fix it!

Have no problem with k750i & original charger after 2-3 hours 100% got newest firmware

well after approx 2 weeks, I charge my battery turned off, overnight, and in the morning, it says 'Fully charged'.
In fact it says fully charged after about 2 hours or less from charging from an empty battery. I turn the phone on then and check to see what the charge is (using the volume / zoom buttons on the right of the phone) and its says 100%.
After giving the K750i some 'running in', I am quite happy with the charging process now.
Give the phone a chance guys.

I always have my w800 switched on when I charge it and always achieve a 100%. This is very strange as I have upgraded my firmware twice and with each version it has always achieved 100%.

is there a specific firmware/software update that is supposed to fix this problem?

my phone reaches a maximum of 88%

Posted by leenuss
I plug the cable in every night when I go to sleep. It won't take more than a few hours, because it's already 100% whenever I wake up.

Never had a battery issue. Actually I've only heard the "low battery beep" one single time.

I have the same problems with my battery. Now does this affect the performance of the phone (e.g. battery time) or just the display of it?

Posted by sverkalo
My phone works excellent but I want to fix this thing so I will go and leave it to them for some days.
As I said it doesn't go more than 93% and it never stops the charging.
All other functions are great and the phone itself is a great device.

Just got my phone last week and I too have the same problem. Unfortunately, it's not just the battery indicator but the battery life also sucks. It doesn't last a day with normal usage. I think I can get about 4 hrs of talk time out of a single charge which is not even close to spec.

I e-mailed SE just to see what they're going to say about the issue. I'll give it another week before I'll call in.
