1989 or -90 Ericsson Hotline, I think it was one of the first phones you could actually stck in your pocket. (You needed to have a big pocket thoug)

Yeah, I remember them. It was even bigger than my first phone. Actually I just remembered, I had a great big bugger in my work car. It had a carrying strap and the old fashion phome diail and hook. Could hardly move it... It wasn't mine thoug, it belonged to work, and I was hardly allowed to use it due to the ringing cost.

the aerial alone was longer than most phones on the market today.
way back then i had 2 lines in the same phone, one Vodafone the other Cellnet, in some ways the features and quality of handsets have gone backwards.

i think it was about '96-'97 (am not sure anymore.) a clunky nokia 2110i.
that is one sturdy phone. i remember the scare i had when it accidentally fell on the ground and phone "dismantled" itself. (ok, the battery got separated from the phone). later i found out it was designed to do that to minimize the shock.

my first phone was an analog one.
Motorola Pocket Classic 1100. i still have it with me, and i think it still is working. batt life is a mere 5-12 hours.
and the display is a one-liner of 7-segments.
got it '97, when i was 2nd year high school.

it was in 2001 i got a nokia 8260. liked it, it got stolen, got a 3360. modded it, gave it to my sister as a b-day present and got my current t39m, LOVE it more than any other phone i used (except the t68i and s100)

Yeah that might just be the one! I remember how exited I was going in to the store that day. The sales guy tryed to sell me an Ericsson(damn, can't remember the name of that one either, weird thing with the antenna coming out of the side) which was about $70 more. Anyway, his argument was that this is the phone for people driving a Mercedes(the Ericsson), whilst the other one is for people driving a Lada...hehe. So I bought the Motorola and told him; That's ok cause I drive a beaten up old Toyota! Of course I should have gone with the Ericsson, but just couldn't stand the guy and didn't want to go with the one he suggested!

I got my first phone on a Cellnet analogue service in 1993. It was the rather small (for the time) Panasonic J Series. I still have it in its box as new. I got fed up with the terrible service from Cellnet, served out my 12 months and moved to Orange (all new digital GSM service!!!) and got myself the Nokia Orange, one of two phones the company launched with, the other was the mountain sized Motorola mr1. Have been with Orange ever since with only Nokia updates untill the mighty
T68i came along - pre-ordered it, and got it on the day of release (on Orange).

It was replaced by the service center with a bigger yet more stable Mitsubishi on Feb 2000 (forgot the model). When I graduated and got a job, I saved and bought a Siemens M35 with the dust absorbent rubber back and the annoying low-bat tone. :evil: I finally got rid of it when I got a new job in 2001. I bought this T39m last October 2001 (1 year ago!). Got some signal problems months ago but its okay now.

1991 was my first phone, it was a NEC P3 (where are NEC in the phone market now?) it was on Cellnet analogue. as i remember living in London at the time it used to be more exspensive to call from inside the M25 than outside!!

Yeah.
I was on the same Cellnet M25 tarriff. I seem to remember it causing some billing issues for me, which is why I couldn't wait to change to a digital network where you could be charged by the second instead of per minute!

Got my first cel in '93 a Motorola Ultra Classic. The cutting edge feature back then was alphanumeric directory where you could save a name along with the number. My first GSM phone was a Nokia 2110 bought in '97 for the same price that a T68mc goes for now here in the Philippines.

It was in 1996 - a Nokia 1611. The next ones were Nokia 6110, Nokia 6210, Ericsson T68 and then Sony Ericsson T68i and Ericsson T65 that I currently use (both of them).
