Am about to buy a bluetooth dongle and wanted to ask you that does it come with the software cd? I read somewhere on esato that it does not work on Windows if XP Service Pack 2 is not installed.
Is it true? Please help? I have a k700i.

All bluetooth dongles come with a driver cd.
And the biggest proof that a bt dongle can work without SP2 is me, myself..
I am on a pc without sp2 and the dongle works ok..
But, if u have sp2 installed, plug in the bt dongle directly without installing the drivers and see whether the built in bt drivers in xp recognises it..
If not, then try with the drivers installed..

Thanks mate. Can you tell which cell you have and what the transfer speed is.And also what brand dongle you have? I have decided to go in for one which costs Rs 500.
Posted by whizkidd
Mine is a Microsim one.. i had another two earlier which refsed to work with nokias so borrowed this one from mrao...
Go for good brands like billionton or microsim..
Don't really know much about the transfer speeds...

I have an MSI one for some time now.
Works a treat (besides some initial COM0: problems...
Posted by whizkidd
Yeah MSI!
They make good dongles too!

I got one yesterday. The shop didnt have a Microsim So I installed the Blusoliel 1.6 drivers that came with it in a mini cd and after installing the software doesnt detect the dongle . It still says 'please insert bluetooth device'. Please help. I have windows xp sp1 installed.

SP1 might be ur issue... has anyone successfully installed a BT dongle on SP1? i thoguht it only worked on SP2 but then again, yiou all ALWAYS prove me wrong
Posted by indiannawaf
In the above posts whizkidd has mentioned that he doesnt have sp2 then also his dongle works fine.

oh your right

Also, did u follow the correct procedure? First install drivers, then plug the dongle, and then restart.
Posted by indiannawaf
Yes I did everything. First installed drivers and then restarted and then plugged in the dongle. Windows detects the dongle but doesnt recognize because its not sp2. But why doesnt Blusoliel recognize it?

I have a widcomm (d-link) dongle with WinXP service pack 1 it works fine. I'd say try to uninstall the driver plug your dongle and see if your comp. recognizes as a usb device...when it ask to install the driver automatically choose manual, and try to point to the cd that has the driver on.

Tried it. Not working. I am installing sp2 right now.Hope it works.

i got a cheap little toshiba one, very small little thing to, but 1000's of features and extras you can do with it, good buy i think!
it was +/- 7.5 pounds!!
ps can all b/t dongles allow you to place your phone somewhere and then take a pic from your phone but control it from your pc???

I have Blusoliel dongle and it works fine on windows xp,sp1 and sp2 but not on win 98.
Windows xp sp2 has default drivers for bluetooth devices so there is no need to use the driver cd that come with the device. I connect Nokia 6600 and SE T610 with it.

I'm currently using an MSI BT Dongle, have had it for 2 years and have had no problems sending and receiving files to Z600's, K700i and my P910i. It even works from my 1st floor bedroom donw to my living room.
One problem I've encountered, (sorry, slightly OT) is that it refuses to let me have a serial connection to the phone (so's I can browse t'net in my living room on the phone via the upstairs Broadband connection).I have trawled the numerous threads here to try and resolve, just wondered if anyone has successfully used the MSI to do this....

I have a USB 1.1 dongle from Australian brand 'Dick Smith Electronics'.
It's software clashed with XP sp2 bigtime, so I uninstalled it and and used XP instead. No more problem.
Transfer speed according to
is 28kBps but in my case is 20kBps. (K700i, R2AE033) Sending 10 MP3 files - about 29MB - to my phone takes about 17 mins.
Using XP to manage the file transfer is too cumbersome though.
Download MyPhoneExplorer.
Backing up my files one at a time via XP took 3 hours.
Putting them back in after software update via MPE took 15 mins.

How do you guyz use MyPhoneExplorer? When I open it it says telephone could not be identified whereas Bluesoliel connects to my phone instantly. I have connected my dongle at a usb port. In the options it shows Com1 etc. How do i find to which com port my dongle is connected? Plzz help.

i use myphoneexplorer using the windows xp drivers. Works great.

Hey there Indianna, I use Bluesoleil over sp1 with myphoneexplorer.
First thing that you need to make sure is that you were able to install the Bluesoleil s/w successfully. It will have the ability to connect to your phone as if there was a serial connection. If you are successful at doing that, just click connect and MPE does everything by itself! hope this helps.
Posted by indiannawaf
I did that in the first place. I had blusoliel running and i clicked connect in mpe and when half completed it says "Telephone could not be identified". I also have sp1.What version blusoliel you have? Mine is 1.4
Posted by indiannawaf
Somebody heeeeeeeellllllp!!! I have bluesoliel 1.4 and k700i. I can transfer files and all but cant connect serial port service. It says connection failed.
Posted by blu_6779
did u try using xp drivers?
Posted by indiannawaf
I have Sp1 which doesnt have bluetooth drivers. If you know where to download from plzz help.
Posted by blu_6779
in bluesoleil goto tools -> quick connect and assign all the spp fields. Then exit bluesoleil and restart it and F5 and search for your device. Double click on the phone's icon and right click the 3rd icon, and click connect bluetooth serial port A and check the status.

i think its the program that lets you do that, becuase wouldnt all BT dongles really be/do the same thing? connect via BT? then the program pick what to do? ahh idk
what software do u use? i like that

Tried that. No luck. Still connection failed. Did you mean that i have to assign all the fields in quick connect to my k700 right? If not plzz rectify.
Posted by blu_6779
yes after doing that, go to myphoneexplorer file->options try all the ports. Baudrate should be 115200 and obex packet size 4096. BTW to check if the serial port is connected go to bluesoleil right click the 3rd icon and check if connect is greyed out. If it isn't then something is wrong.
Posted by indiannawaf
Thats the problem. I cant start the serial port service I have no idea why. When I check the services in k700 for my pc, it shows only 3. It doesnt show serial port.
Posted by Beep
just a thought, goto device manager in Windows and expand Ports (COM & LPT)...
...something might show up!
Posted by indiannawaf
Tried it at my other pc and it worked. I started MPE and it connected fine! But today is not my day. When I clicked on Files it said something about OBEX was not initialized. Mine is on 4096. I went back to my other pc and bluesoliel could not start File Transfer service!! I reinstalled to no avail. If anyone has any helpful advice help.If anyone knows any good software other then my crappy one(Bluesoliel) plzz help!!One mere thing. I tried all of the above with my friends 6681 and it worked perfectly. Could the problem lie in my phone?k700

You can download it from here:

Posted by indiannawaf
Its the full setup. Will I have to remove my old one (1.4) and then install? Is there any update?
Posted by blu_6779
take out the dongle and then uninstall.
Posted by indiannawaf
Didnt work. At the time of completion of install an error came up. Remote procedure call failed.
Posted by indiannawaf
Everything solved. I did a master reset of settings in my k700 and it works now, Though i dunno why i cant sonnect serial port in my first pc . I can do everything else. I can also start MPE in my other pc. Thanks for all your help. Just not to waste this thread I thought lets start this thread for all dongle problems.
