Some of you might have heard about this..
Quote from the AMD website:
"In the Spirit of Fair and Open Competition, AMD Challenges Intel to a Duel....
a Dual-Core Duel. Will Intel Accept the Challenge?"
Hre's the Link
If that link doesn't work, try this
www.amd.com/duel
Who do you think will win?
Anyway i have a feeling that Intel won't accept this challenge in the first place!
Anyway, i found this at the AMD WEBSITE...
Top 10 reasons why intel won't participate in the Dual core Duel
- Tried to follow their own roadmap to get to the duel
- Decided to take the "Front side bus" to the duel, got stuck in a bottleneck
- The Intel Inside stickers they use to package the cores together kept melting.
- Too busy rearranging the deck chairs on the Itanic
- "Hey!, we don't expect anyone to actually buy these things!"
- Didn't want to compete when they heard the duel would involve actual rules of "fair" competition.
- They couldn't get a permit from the fire department to emit that much heat.
- No systems available yet--protective clothing used by manufacturers only safe for upto 149 watts
- Dell told them they were not allowed to participate.
And the NUMBER ONE reason Intel won't accept the Dual Core Duel: - Moore's law has been replaced by "Paul's Paradox": The number of cancelled products per year at Intel will double every year after the introduction of the AMD Opteron Processor.

Pretty old news. Well, intel is in not competitive right now,at least in performance wise. But intel has 65nm in good shape (no more leakage like 90nm) and the next gen products will not sport netburst, intel should be in much better position when code named conroe arrive in h2 06. We'll get a fair idea of their performance by the launch of new p M core called yonah arrives in jan 06. Amd right now cannot make full advantage of thier lead either.so things will be much interesting by late 06.
