Pls don't repeat your posts.... The C100 is too low end imho.. You should opt for a bluetooth enabled phone...

C100 is trash except for the vibrant screen.

Posted by whizkidd
If you can increase your budget to 7k- you can buy he Ngage qd which acts as a pretty good gprs modem.. I'm using one right now. You'd also have to buy a bluetooth dongle worth rs 800...

Posted by blu_6779
Samsung C100 is gprs class 8. what class is the ngage?

Posted by whizkidd
I think its class 8 too....

Posted by mobile_fish
hi whizz plz tell...are you satisfied with the model ?

one of my friend told samsung C100 is a good gprs modem....he has been using this for a long time ....and never found any trouble.

However, what are the mobile phone you have handled already ?

Posted by mobile_fish
hi whizz...does ngage qd has

1. infrared connectivity
2. data cable connectivity
3. bluetooth connectivity
4. EDGE suuport
5. How is the browsing experience ? can you write e-mails from this phone ? can i browse any site in this phone ?

please answer..

get a SE T630, it has got BT, IRDA, Class 8 GPRS, 65k TFT screen and it is under 6k

Posted by whizkidd
The ngage does not have infrared or cable support.. The only way you can connect it to pc is using bluetooth... Also, the the ngage is a smartphone with full email and internet access on the phone itself...

>Also, the the ngage is a smartphone with full email and internet access on the phone itself..

you mean i would get full internet experience as i find in a desktop Internet explorer !!!.....thats really great....fantastic.

>The only way you can connect it to pc is using bluetooth

this is a big problem....i am afraid, if my motherboad of my desktop PC does not support bluetooth then i'll in trouble. so, i asked if there exists other connectivity like data cable and infrared. because then i dont have depend upon only bluetooth....just smart escape root.

its a big drawback.

Posted by whizkidd
@fish, even my pc is not bluetooth enabled. You'd have to buy a bluetooth dongle for that. It costs around 800 bucks...

Posted by mobile_fish
my desktop PC's motherboard is mercury . i have heard many people have faced trouble in bluetooth connectivity + windows XP. so, i asked if there would been a safe escape root...then certain it would be the best mobile phone i am looking for.

Posted by whizkidd
If you motherboard has an usb port (which i'm sure it has!) you can use a bluetooth dongle. And it doesn't matter whether your pcs motherboard is mercury or asus...

i just picked up Ngage qd features

* GPRS: Class 6 (3+1/2+2 slots)
* Data speed: 24 - 36 kbps

its of GPRS 6.

whizz, do you use this for browsing ? does it provide good speed ?

and does ngage qd has higher version which has cable /infra connectivity ? whats the approx price ?

Posted by whizkidd
I'm sure it is class 8 or higher... Anyways, gprs connections are not blazing fast... You'll get only dial up like speeds.. Nevertheless, i'm quite satisfied with the speed the ngage provides.

here is the link i used to see specification

http://shopping.rediff.com/sh[....]8477&frompg=_ngage%20qd_search

really very attractive features and good look like a small PC

yes. my PC has 4 USB ports.

can i have a infrared port with any higher nokia ngage models...i like this model. i just want to have infra/cable along with this BLT.

ohh...yea, i know, but some my friends told that bluetooth depends upon motherboard . you may add a dongle in the USB port. but your motherboard may not detect that device....incompatibality. this is a big problem with bluetooth dongle added in the USB ports.s

i dont have any experience at all. i just quoted their views.

so , they told always buy a mobile has at least two modes of connectivity to a PC.

does this Ngage has any higher version which has two modes of connectivity ?

Posted by whizkidd
The only other phone i can think of is the 3660. But i won't recommend it as its quite outdated. From se there's the k500 and the k700. The k5 doesn't have bluetooth...only infrared.

Posted by mobile_fish
>Anyways, gprs connections are not blazing fast... You'll >get only dial up like speeds

ok...no problem....thats enough... i need the mobility. otherwise i would have gone for broadband.

Posted by whizkidd
For your budget, the Ngage imho is the best option.
If it were a lil higher you'd have many options.
The 6600 (its still a good phone), The K700, and the likes..

The advantage of the Ngage is that its a smartphone.
You can acces almost all websites that you see on the pc with the netfront and opera browsers, chat with friends using agilemessenger or wirc, check emails using profimail, listen to music with ultra mp3 pr oggplayer.

What more do you need for about 7k??

Posted by mobile_fish
>What more do you need for about 7k

all those things are ok . i like it.

my only hesitation is if the bluetooth does not support to my motherboard i dont have any other option to connect to my PC. thats my problem.

otherwise, the phone really rocks and personally i liked it.

is it possible to know whether my PC would support bluetooth via USB port ? i have windows XP installed. and i have mercury motherboard.

is there any way to check it out ? once i am sure there would be no problem with bluetooth , i am gonna to buy this phone.

N.B : are you posting from your phone ? are you getting the graphics of this web page ? or just the text only ?

Posted by whizkidd
I can see the website as you see it on the pc.

Anyways, the only option i guess is to borrow someones ngage and a blue tooth dongle and try setting up a bt connection.

Setting up a bt connection can be a bit tricky at times.

>Anyways, the only option i guess is to borrow someones >ngage and a blue tooth dongle and try setting up a bt >connection.

none of my friends are aware of this phone ...my bad luck. well, i may try to borrow a blt phone from some body and may test whether i could set it in my machine.

what other phone you recommend ? i am not fond of browse on phone ...but want to browse in the PC . so, what other phone you recommend.

please suggest , recommend phones which you have used or have seen used by others successfully.

I can giv u 100% assurance dat u will hav no prblms via bt. Jus buy a dongle 4 rs 400. Plug it in the usb port. Install sw 4m cd

Posted by blu_6779
windows xp sp2 has its own BT drivers which I'm using at the moment with the k700i.

Posted by mobile_fish
hi, do you use k700i ? what about its current price ? is it good for i already have SE k300.....i did not like it though.

i have SE k300, nokia 2100,tata phone, nokia 6020....all these are useless and wothless.

whizz....can you browse any https in your phone ?
any site which does require a login name and password.

i am providing a link here

http://forum.java.sun.com

try to login into this forum....with any dummy id/pass. does your phone work ?

in fact in nokia 6020 phone i could NOT login into sun's java forum. though there was a login text on the page. in fact i was not been able to log into any forum.

However , plz investigate and tell me the result.
