No mention of how from how high the drops were made but i presume they were dropped from the usual arm lengths position.

Then what about all the things we heard that the n91's hard drive would be damaged even on the slightest mechanical shock, leave alone 300 drops ?!?!

Posted by EastCoastStar
thats what i was figuring, they said a "tumble" maybe they put it on their lap, then stood up and let it fall/tumble... that happened to me MANY times hahaha

Was the phone ON when they dropped it?
Also do they talk about the phone or the hard drive?
And did they drop the phone outside or indoors?

Maybe they dropped it indoors 10cm on a pillow 300 times with the phone off

i dropped my siemens once and its screen was broken :s...

300 times is quite good!

Seppe welcome to esato....

It is rather amazing that a phone can be dropped 300 times and not suffer to some degree. However it remains to be seen if this is the case in the real world.

Ya...300 times is like taking the joke a bit too far....must be 30 times i reckon

Posted by Seppe

thanks

it is quite amazing if no harm would be done after dropping it 300 times, especially with all those hightech features

300 times!!! That's rather a lot, I reckon they weren't dropping it onto stone. Having said that the Ipod mini lasted only 12 drops that's can't be good!!!

i dropped my w800i unpacking it out of the box - dohhh!!!

so that's 1 drop and counting that the w800i can withstand lol!

Posted by axxxr
so thats 299 to go then welshtom....

Posted by WelshTom
ooops better make that 298 as of a few seconds ago!

Posted by axxxr
better be carefull then, your running out of lives super quick!

My K700i was dropped 12 times with the battery and the battery cover on, but without the battery, its hopeless! The screen broke the first time i dropped it while changing the sim card!

Will it survive the hammer test ?? :la:

i was really wondering these days about this drop-test at a microdrive phone....veeeery interesting!!

Posted by N56
the real question is can u run it over?

ive seen that verti (sp? the really expensive diamond one) ran over by acar, and ive ran my old old old orange motorola beast over. that one doesnt really count though cos it was a diffferent make of phone, i ran it off AA batteries gaffa taped in

i definently think that its improtant to get more details of these tests before we take anythin conclusive, but if the n91 lasts 300 drops and the minii only 12 then thats sumin to thnk about. too many variables though

I've dropped my W800i about twenty times now, a few of them have been more than a 5 foot drop! And there are only two small scrapes on it, I don't think i'm gonna try 300 though!

Nokia are putting build quality into it. If it can't withstand drops then there's no point in releasing it.

I await an SE of the same spec with a harddrive that can measure upto this

The phone is called Vertu and I saw that on TV. It was one of the managers at Vertu, who drove his Porsche over his Vertu phone. As you all probably guessed, there were no marks whatsoever.

www.vertu.com - check this out if you wanna know more about really expensive nokias

I've been thinking about this as from my point of view as a computer bod harddrives in computers simply cannot handle sustained abuse. Obviously microdrives are different, they have to be but how good are they? I've never heard of problems with the Ipod microdrives in this respect has anyone else?

The N91 is more durable than i thought!!!

I Have dropped my D500 5 times, on the fifth time it developed white screen thrombosis but everything else worked fine.

I have dropped kicked my W800 once. don't ask me how it happened!!
I dropped it then i thought i could lessen the fall by sticking my foot out, that went badly wrong and it ended up hitting a wall. Still not a scratch on it and it is working fine.
