emai, t68i, orange & GSM

I don't subscribe to GPRS so want to just dial up and access my pop3 mail account. However, it doesn't work.

I'm 99% sure I've got the email settings right (the protocol incoming and outgoing servers and ports along with passwords are all ok), but it always ssays it cannot connect with the server.

My first thought were that this is because the server requires secure authentication. However, I attempted to set up an orange account and had the same probs.

Could there be settings elsewhere on the phone that are messing things up?

First check that your account is data enabled, check with your service provider. Secondly, the dial-up internet provider you are using - check that they allow access to 3rd party POP and SMTP servers on port 110 and 25 (they can restrict this on their firewalls).
