It could have been..I am not sure I just remember seeing it in passing? Its the only real TV that will work ok with my mac and the HDMI..

Have you got that hooked up to your mac? I heard there a problems with the black borders on the side which I see in the pic now..what size is the one you have by the way.

I am looking at the 26-to-32..I need to have it mounted on my bed (Dont ask how) so I dont want to go larger..

i guess it's mine.
Its 32 inch, is HD ready (doesn't need any external boxes)
Has the most ports of any tv, free view built in, firmware upgradable and I've hooked up my Mac Mini to it.

The LCD brightness was the brightest out of all of the ones in Currys.

It has a brightness and audio sensor.
Plus the gloss is sexay.

But samsung didn't do a good job with the paint to be honest. Under certain light it looks like there are light surface scratches (like brushed metal)

Ok you answered most of my questions..thanks mate. The real question is will it be compatible with sky's HDTV as this tv seems to have one snag that its not broadcastin on 50Hz..which is what SKY will be pumping out.,( I am not sure if this has changed since the review was done sometime in June)

Posted by bart
a normal flatscreen sony. nothing special. but still a good sony.
with dvd/video player

still waiting for SE to lauch the MMV-200!

Posted by amnesia
sky hd in 50 hz? I dont know which one of us has heard incorrectly but Sky HD will move to 60 hz.

No matter though, i played 50hz and 60hz games and they both looked great.

edit: there are different models. They look similar but they each have slightly different specs. The one that I bought had the max specs. I dont know if that makes a difference. (i bought it from Currys)

Sorry to say you heard it wrong it will be broadcast at 50Hz and thats a fact. They also confirmed that the sports will be broadcast at 720 but have since not said if they will also do the movie channel at 1080 or 720.

Alas this means that this tv will have issues with Blue-Ray and the PS3 due to the 720p its reso is at as opposed to the 1080i being pumped by PS3..

but why would the tv have problems if it supports both?

Posted by themarques
There was an issue that it didnt support both and that it was on 60Hz only..so this is why I am checkin up on it. You got to remember to get HD you got to go through the HDMI, if you go through any other chanel it will run on 50 and 60Hz but it wont be true HD

Posted by amnesia
you can go through HDMI or DVI. The outcome is the same and they both support high def.

Here is my specific model.

Posted by themarques
Ok I will give it a shot..not to bothered about sky..more concerned about the PS3..

Anyway you might want to try this app if you get the black borders when using you mac mini..

DisplayConfigX

Posted by amnesia
yeah I'm already using that.
I set the sky boy to display widescreen when possible. and I set the tv to display on 4:3 when widescreen is not available.

So it switches back and forth depending on the channel.
Its annoying channels like paramount, and Bravo dont have widescreen 99% of the time.

@amnesia good choice in TV mate, my mums got the same 1, its well nice. when i conected ut up to my PC it was even nicer lol

I'm still using my Sony Cineza projector (VPL-HS1) and a Sony DAV-S800 hifi/dvd blah blah (you can see two speaker in the pic because the centre speaker is above the main unit) and there are 4 of those tall speakers. The huge subwoofer is behind the screen. The project can project up to 150" if you have a long enough throw but we're using a 70" screen at the mo

I'm getting more tempted by plasma lately though, now that prices are fairly sensible but need to spend some time comparing the technology with LCD in case maybe LCD is the way to go, but it will still be quite a while before an affordable plasma or LCD reaches the size that we can view in our house right now and we are BIG movie fans having around 800 DVDs currently so big screen is definitly a must

some might remember this pic was taken by my V3 and posted in the Pictures and photos taken with Motorola Razr V3 last year

is that a trampoline in your front room? lol

Posted by marlonski
panasonic 28" flat screen 100hz, would like to change it but the picture is just too good to justify replacing yet.

Posted by jagger2k
This is the on in the living room.

50" LG plasma,

and i brought this for my room.

26" LCD

Posted by themarques
Wow it looks like Samsung made quite a bit of money of Esato members....damn I am still undesisive about what to get but its looking more and more like the Samsung.

Posted by maddav
If you're going to use a Mac with it, there's a few key points about the LE3241BDX that I've got:

- Max. (Native) Resolution is 1366x768
- VGA input on TV will do 1360x768 1:1 pixel mapping (bar 3 on each side) and is absolutely fantastic.
- There's no DVI input, but there's HDMI, though I've heard from some users that it's hard to get an accurate picture using a DVI-HDMI cable.

Seriously though, the VGA pic is lovely, the tv is recognised straight away and is automatically set to it's native resolution if using a PowerBook/Desktop!

Posted by themarques
@maddav Thanks for that any other tips I think you kinda sealed it for me..

Posted by maddav
I can't think of any more major points at the moment, if you have any further question by all means ask.

Posted by themarques
Ok I just ordered it and it should be on its way tomorrow.. I am having it mounted onto me bed and I need to have it raised slightly so its seen should be tricky but my carpenter will surely sort it out (I HOPE) and il post some pics when its done.

I have just bought a Sony Bravia.

Has anyone used a MMV-200 with one of these, I am wondering how the video and cam pictures appear on the screen. Is it worth buying?

What is the user experience like?

Congratulations mate!!!

I just got a crappy 21" samsung flat screen in my room at the mo. need HD asap my 360 is being deprived

This is mine...

Quite a nice little TV for my 360.

Still need the cable to set it up as my Monitor though...

Got me 29' LG flatron. Hate it,hate it, hate it! Was looking into buying the Phillips or Sony lcd. Hoping that Pioneer goes into lcds cause I think they're the best in tv screens. I'd definitely buy Pioneer ahead of the 2 abovementioned brands. Meantime I'm slanting toward the Phillips lcd as it's better than the Sony one.

Posted by mcrosser
I still don't know wich one is better: LCD or Plasma? and why? BTW I have a flat screen SONY 24" TV on my living room.

Posted by *Jojo*
I've been seein' some Sony LCD with 1 or 2 MegaPixel screen . . . is this the latest FAD at the moment Screens which has megapixel specs

Posted by brix25
I've got a Philips 29' CRT flat screen( don't ask me about the model number)... Would love to get a an HD-ready set but buying one now would be pointless since we won't be getting HDTV any time before the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

In my room i have the oldest tele in the house. A 24" tube tv. It does have s-video input tho so i can watch movies from my pc onto it

Posted by goldenface
The Sony LCD picture is amazing I have to say - quite a change from my 10 year old 21" Toshiba I can tell you.

No tv licence! Please tell them I'm coming to buy the Samsung tv. That's crazy, licence for one and none for the other?

Plasma screens are still better than lcds but the lcds are closing in, and fast. The bravia was the king for a short while until Phillips came up with their next pixel plus lcd. Give lcds a year and they'll match plasmas that's for sure.

Good for you man! Otherwise are you happy with your Samsung? Samsung and LG are both Korean and I'm disappointed with my LG for it's not so perfect picture quality.
