"Wait for the P800"
"Palm sucks! SE Rulz!"

There are both of your answers in abbreviated form, of course. I thought that I'd summarize the thread before it actually materialized... Seriously tho, if the P800 can deliver what it promises then it is your best bet.

How can you claim that palm sucks when it is the most popular pda platform in the world. The p800 specs are great, but it has to prove itself yet.

I have visited the palm website and compared the two units. m515 & m130. aside from the price and the weight, the two is almost the same. but the 515 has a interactive flash demo (i dont what it is) and a bigger memory (16mb). maybe it would be much better if i can get comments from actual users

What are you going to do with a PDA? Around how much is your budget?

Posted by kapitan jackal
@Flippereds, budget? well there was an accrued and allocated budget. not too big but can be streched. basically, its a long overdue dream, and i think this year is the right time to get one. i want value for money. reason for buying one? my t39 is getting bored, he´s requesting for a partner.

@jackal,your subject is 'to palm or not to palm' but you are choosing between two palm models. so if your subject is still what it is, i suggest casio e-200 pocket pc.it's the best value for money you can get. if i will get a pocket pc now, as in now, that's what i will get.

@Arnoldc a.k.a master jedi, good day! thanks for your reply, the thread sub. is should i choose palm or settle foa another brand. if palm it is, what model. casio e200, master do you have an idea how much it is? this may sound embarassing but what i have right now is the primitive casio pocket viewer pv 450. well is verynice paper weight. arnoldc, where can i get one? how much?

Posted by arnoldc
@jackal, the E-200 is around 26K. we will beg le petit prince for a discount (le petit take note!) although there were bad rumours about it, i still think it's the best buy.

@arnodlc,

ok, thanks. i check the specs on the net? (do you have any link?) 26,000.00 pesos huh?

Dont get the m130, it will not accept the bluetooth module-sd card. I suggest you make a list what you need in a pda, then list ur wants. Then find one that meets ur criteria! Expansion, and tight bugget do not in hand-in-hand.

If you don't mind shelling out a little more, may I suggest taking a look at the Toshiba e510?

Posted by kapitan jackal
@prom1,

really! gee, good thing i post this thread. are you sure/ because BT connection number one on my list.

thanks

@markong,

toshiba e510? i've seen one at complink, i'll check with their site, the size and OS is good. the price, lets see....nway, thank you

Don't buy a palm now. The current palms are slow because most of them run on 33 mghz dragonball chips from motorolla and they have OS4. OS5 is just around the corner and it supports arm chips which are 200 mghz or more. The next gen palms will also have built in bluetooth. I don't like the bluetooth SD card because you have to remove the memory card to use it and most of my softwares are in the card. If you want to buy now get a pocket pc as the others have recommended. But if you really want a palm because of more softwares available just wait for the new models. The dragonball chip will become obsolete soon because new developers will opt to develop for the arm chip.

@jackal, i agree with jabba.

@jabba,arnold,

i just checked palm site. there's a new one coming. the i705. non idea if its better than pocket pc's. (casio e200 etc.)

can i get a good pocket pc w/ bt at 20k? i hope u bear with me cause i just bought a desktop at 20k, so, if i decided to get a pocket pc, i'll be spending more than my desktop.

jab, ac, keep those post coming

The i705 is not new. It has been out in the US for almost a year now and it supports wireless internet and email. You can only use the internet feature in the US and I think its costs around 50 USD a month to avail of this service. This also has OS 4, a dragonball chip and a monochrome screen. The best unit from palm for Philippine use is the m515 but pocket pc's have more features.

@Jabba, is it true that u cannot se the bluetooth sd card to m130? can anyone re-confirm this?

Posted by Prom1
Go 2 palms usa site,look up the bt card compatibility. U will see that only the m500 series and i705 are supported. The first arm chips you will see in palms will be from motorola-200mhz. Os 5 might not support all previous software as first anticipated.

Jack: Don't get any. you don't need it.

@bons, korek. what i need is a handy phone that supports html. not to big. i prefer a non-built in camera.
