Posted by amnesia
no matter, I remember an incident on neowin.net and some guy was also called Whizzkid. He was the most rudest person i had ever met.
He sent me some offensive pms that I found amusing (but slightly shocked ny)

Strong Quake Rocks Indian Subcontinent
By CHRISTOPHER TORCHIA, Associated Press Writer

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - A powerful 7.6-magnitude earthquake rocked large swaths of Pakistan, India and
Afghanistan on Saturday, killing at least six people. Pakistan's army said initial reports indicate the damage was widespread in that country.

Four of the dead were in northwestern Pakistan, a relief official in the area said. Police in India-controlled
Kashmir said an infant and another person died there. At least a dozen people were injured, and dozens more were feared trapped in the rubble of a 10-story apartment building in Islamabad, the Pakistani capital.

Pakistan's private television news station, Geo, said it had received unconfirmed reports that at least 25 people had died in Pakistan's part of Kashmir, the disputed Himalayan territory.

Two interior ministry officials in Islamabad said there were fatalities, but they had no details. The officials did not want to be named because they are not authorized to speak to the media.

just saw on a news update on telly stating figures of 12000 dead, up to 40000 injured. shocking news! no pun intended. what is the world doing to us? earthquakes, floods, cyclones etc. world aid will surley one day not be able to cope with this if it continues.

The toll is apparently now 18,000 according to Yahoo!

My thoughts are with those affected, and hope the death toll doesn't rise any further.

And I hope no Esatonians have been affected either.

Posted by max_wedge
agree. Hope everyone from esato is okay. This is very sad news. The authorities atleast seem a bit more organised than the US were with Katrina...

My heart goes out to the victoms and the surviviors.

.. . as per CNN just moments ago, it is feared that some 30K are dead . . . !

Posted by GreenKronic
better prepared? wonder how those facts came about but anyway as cnn over 30000 dead. i dont think anyone can be prepared for mother nature please lets not start comparing one nation to another. it's sad no matter what.

Posted by max_wedge
It is sad no matter what. It's sad when nature strikes and hundreds die. It's sadder if public authorities are ill equiped to deal with the disaster and more die as a result.

I hope this has not been the case in pakistan as it was in new orleans, that's all I meant. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Peace

Awful news, the death toll just keeps on rising and what makes it difficult is that the place is so remote, making it hard to reach for the relief agencies.

It said on the news that people have started looting too. Its hard for me to understand why people start looting when a disaster has happened, I mean haven't those poor people lost enough!

Latest count at - CNN . . . 33K feared dead, !

Posted by Sammy_boy
And they're saying an entire generation has been all but wiped out. There was something on our local news about an organisation that had forged links with something like 152 schools in the affected area, and it sounds like EVERY ONE of those schools has been flattened with thousands of schoolchildren killed

I am just wondering how will this be compared to the killer tsunami that hit Sri Lanka/Indonesia, in terms of casualties/numbers

Posted by GreenKronic
over 40000. not good. i think the looting over there is a little diffirent than in the states. there people really have no relief as they are in remote parts. so i can see why they are looting.it is nice that India is offering some help to pakistan

Posted by *Jojo*
@green - Yeah, I hope that the issue of 'nuclear-supremacy' between the two will be set aside for the moment specially at times like this . . .

Posted by GreenKronic
@jn it's a nice gesture i hope that after it is all said and done the two countrys can come to some sort of an agreement about there issues at hand. Now there is winter coming and 3 million homeless. now there worried about mud slides. can it get any worse for there people.

Posted by max_wedge
horrific. a whole generation of kids gone! That's heart breaking. Hopefully better co-operation between India and pakistan will be an outcome of all this devestation...

Makes you wonder, what's next? We've had Tsunami's, Killer Hurricanes, Earthquakes. If I lived near a volcano I'd be moving...

Posted by GreenKronic
Everything happens in 3's maybe there wont be any natural disasters ifor awhile....Just Hoping

Posted by goldenface
@greenkronic. How can you be sure of the reason why people were looting is?

Posted by GreenKronic
never said i was sure just my opinon
