Hi All

To whom this may concern: I upgraded to ver 1.6.4 and now I can't sync my phone's time with internet no more - I can only sync with PC. Is this problem on my side or is it the new version?

Posted by zirkie101
Not to worry! It was my firewall settings. Thx 4 the update of MyPhone. It rocks!!!

will you ever be supporting symbian phones? like p990i or p1i ?
i loved this software with my k700i.

Posted by Uncle Bob

Add K700 via bluetooth to your PC with password and when connect it , start M.P.E. and click F2 , then Search device .

MyPhoneExplorer does great work at my PC with my K800i

Posted by tranced
@vodo: what version of MPE are you using?

Posted by sranjanm2002
Thanks. I have downloaded it. I always use it and the best thing is that it always comes up with the new version in short interval.

Posted by razec
there is one thing MPE still lacks despite the number of updates that have come: to use the phone as a modem to connect to the internet via IrDa,Bluetooth,WLAN or usb. i'm waiting to this for so long, yet i the developers cannot do that

Posted by max_wedge
yes, but you get that through the drivers for either usb, bluetooth pan, or bluetooth serial connections, so it's not a show killer. Infact it would be an extra and unnecessary code level imho. Keep it simple is the success of MPE I reckon.

Thanks, This application is cool.

This is an excellent piece of software. I have completely uninstall Sony's application and I am using only this with my new K850i.

I've found a small problem with MyPhoneExplorer 1.6.

I've sent a message to multiple users. That is, within MyPhoneExplorer, I've created a new message, and put multiple phone numbers into the Send field, separated by a semi-colon. All the messages are sent correctly, no problem.

But now, when I look at Sent Messages, only the first person I sent to is listed. The other receivers in the multiple message aren't shown anywhere in MyPhoneExplorer. If I now look at my phone (w810i), I can see separate messages for each person in the Sent Messages list. But not in MyPhoneExplorer, even after Syncing.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks,

jg

This "issue" is known. The basic problem is that its technically impossible to save a message with more recipients via software on the phone. So i had to make a decition to
- save many copys of the messages in sent-folder (with the recipients ony by one)
- or to save only the message with the first recipient (as it is now)

@zillertaler
I've just recently upgraded from Outlook Express to Outlook 2003 and synchronised with MPE. Wow! Stunning! Even more reason why MPE is indispensable. I love the way recent updates have allowed 'right click' options to upload files to the phone too.

Have you won any awards for MPE? It certainly deserves recognition!

Thanks, zillertaler.

Since the above way is how it appears in the phone, isn't it also the best way for it to appear in MPE?

As it is now, MPE does not accurately reflect what is in the phone.

@carkitter: The only "Award" i got is the "No Spyware Award" from softpedia . It would be much easier to promote MPE with some awards but i think the sence of the Project is too specific. Only users of SE-Phones can use it. I have thousands of pleased users - thats satisfaction enought for me

@jg: MyPhoneExplorer saves only one sms in the phone with the first recipient and it also saves one item in MyPhoneExplorer with the first recipient. So i think both storages are reflected equal. Did i misunderstood something ?

Definitely have to agree with carkitter, it's indispensable. And MPE has become a major incentive for me to stick to SE.

Perhaps I didn't check my phone properly - I'm sure you are correct

My preferred option would be to save multiple messages, each with a different recipient. That way, at least I have a correct record of messages sent. As it stands, if you send to multiple recipients, what's shown in Sent Items is not accurate.

Multiple messages may increase "clutter", but at least I have the choice about whether to erase them or not.

I know Zillertaller has stated in his forum that he doesn't like Nokia phones. Now we know about Nokia Beta Labs, an admirable project, something we won't ever see from SE. No offense to Tommi Vilkamo and his team but their PC sync efforts look dumb and amateurish to a regular MPE user. It'd be mindblowing if Zillertaller decided one day to tinker with a Nokia 6120...

It couldn't detect my phone for some reason...oh well and it seemed to be so useful too.

What phone are you using? What mode of connection are you using? USB or bluetooth? If you're using USB, make sure you've installed the right drivers, and if you're using bluetooth, I believe you need to ensure that both MPE as well as your phone are using the same COM port.

Posted by Cocoa
Z610i using bluetooth connection. I'm sorry if I sound ignorant but I'm still new to all this phone terminology so I have no clue what MPE is and I'm equally ignorant on computer networking.

I only know to transfer stuff via bluetooth to my phone and thats about it.

EDIT: oops, just realized what MPE stands for, but I don't know anything about COM ports.

@Cocoa
Are you using XP on your PC?

Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Bluetooth Devices > COM Ports

Find out which COM Port your device is on, then open MPE > File > Options > Connection, select the appropriate COM port, make sure the BT is on in the phone, the click on the Synchronise icon.

Viola...

thx for sharing

Yes!! I finally got it working, this is great!

I went to My Bluetooth Places then activated 'virtual serial port' connection with my phone and it got COM 4. The MPE was able to detect the phone then.

Thank you for this great program, makes organizing things so easy. My only tiny complaint is that it claims to support Arabic but it only displays Arabic characters in titles but when I open a message it displays those weird square boxes...

Zillertaler has a great forum on his MPE website where you can talk to him direct if you have any issues, and if there are any additions needed to language files of national holidays you can add the info yourself! Just don't ask him to make MPE symbian compatible!

Enjoy!

does it also work in w-700i?

can anyone help me plz )

Posted by carkitter
@nda.tarun
Yes it does!

@mikelholla
COM Ports are required for USB connections aswell as BT connections.
Use the USB drivers that are on the disc that came with your K810. That will allow you to connect your K810 to your PC. Your K810 will appear on 'My Computer' as an E: drive or F: drive. Once you have this sorted, go into Network Connections > Phone and Modem Options > Modems and find which COM Port is assigned to your USB cable. Then set MPE to that COM Port as above.

K810 USB drivers (as part of PC Suite) can be found here if you need them.

hello there ..

i have a k800i and have been using the MPE.. but recently it has started to go a bit funny .. i have uninstalled and reinstalled ..

it seems to have started since i bought a new memry stick (sony 1gb)..
i did not a have a memory stick previous to this and just used the phone memory..

so now the problem is when i get half way through the memory say about 450mb left it doesn't went to let me upload more mp3's but is ok with other files .. i have created another file in the root folders and called it music2 . but still no joy ..
when it has let me actually get the fileson there the tunes are all mixed up .. say for instance i try to play a song i last uploaded it plays a different tune for about 4 seconds and then jumps straight into another song and continues to do this .. also i noticed wierd files with syntax type lettering and not been able to delete these .. i have since reformatted the memory stick and this seems to have gone away.. but the main problem seems to have remained ..ie when reaching the halfway point in the memory in the stick it seems not to correspond with MPE it does initially upload the tune (progress bar etc) but when finnished it causes my phone to go into file transfer mode by shutting down ect .. this causing the files to dissapear...
and the error messages to appear ie obex error 00 .. phone not answering ..etc

i have tried to give as much info .. maybe waffling on a bit ..lol
any help is apreciated

I know that Nokiua has a great developer-community, much better than SE. The developers get there also help from real Nokia-Engineers. I'm sure they will follow me up soon. I am only a single developer. My opinion about the phones of Nokia is known

@billbones: if the phone restarts itself i don't think the problem is on MyPhoneExplorer. I would try first another MemoryCard, if still no success a firmware-upgrade should help

Posted by naveensiva
is it vista compatible??

Posted by zillertaler
yes

Posted by interloper
does it work for k770 ?

Posted by billbones
Hello people

in the last post i made about my memory card issues .. i updated the phone via sony ericsson website .. and it re locked my phone to 3 ... but did not resolve the memory issue .. so i got my phone unlocked / flashed etc again ( for a £5) and the memory issue was still there so i took the card back to the guy on the market and got a new one .. and guess what it was the card that was knackered .... i had a feeling this was the case , but the card was a genuine sony M2 so ......
anyways problem sorted

cheers
