@zillertaler, I just felt I should say this (and I believe there are others out there who share my sentiments), MyPhoneExplorer is actually one of the deciding factors when I decide to get a new phone. It's such a great piece of software that it swings the balance in Sony Ericsson's favour whenever I can't make up my mind over which phone to get.

AWSUM software.... better then Nokia/SE's OWN PC SUITEz...............

I don't need MyPhoneExploer to convince me to buy SE, but recently for example I wondered if I could get by with the N73 rather than the K800, and among a few reasons (chiefly SE UI, and better camera), I realised I'd have to use the Nokia PC Suite and I'd lose the trouble free synchronising that MPE does. (MPE is one of the few apps where you can actually make it prompt you for every sync transfer so you can be sure the STUPID syncml rules aren't deleting something you want)

Agreed!

@max, I don't need MPE to convince me to get an SE either, but it sure helps! In any case, the one thing that roots me firmly to SE is the UI, love it. That's also the reason why I'm gonna get a K610 on contract instead of the Nokia 6300 or RAZR V6 MAXX. Those two are attractive phones with great features. But the thought of having to give up the SE UI is too much to bear.

Posted by max_wedge
oh don't get me wrong, I didn't mean to sound unenthusiastic! It's a big part of why I choose SE. I mean SE phones are good, they don't need thirdparty software to make them great, however I reckon if SE bundled MPE, there would be a lot less software related complaints about SE phones. For example the crappy SE File Manager in SE PC Suite, is very touchy and disconnects at teh drop of a hat etc, it's just plain buggy. It makes the SE handset look dodgy, as if it has connection problems, but it's just the software. If they had MPE's stable and cached file transfers, then it would help avoid stupid software making the phone look bad.

@max, don't worry mate, I know what you mean. I believe earlier on in this thread I also expressed that MPE should be bundled with SE phones, it works so much better! I don't even bother installing the SE PC Suite these days.

if that happens.. then ill be one to greet our friend zillertaler for having a special seat in SE developer world.

imagine that?!

Indeed! I feel he more than deserves that position as it is now. MPE is such a great piece of software, zillertaler really should get more credit for it than he already does from us.

I for one share your sentiments deluded! I mean to get a smartphone and not enjoy half of the convenience that MPE affords to my Java phone when it comes to PC connectivity... MPE makes my SE K610 a plug-and-play device, how do you top that!

I've bought a Nokia and a Samsung in the last six months because the prices were so low I couldn't resist. Both are nice, fully featured phones, but I gave the 6234 to my son and the Z400v slider to my wife; because though the Nokia D-pad and UI weren't to my liking, likewise the Samsung non-changable themes and poor media player respectively, the thing that I can't live without is MPE connectivity. It is a deal-breaker for sure.

Posted by deluded
Exactly! It's definitely great to know I'll be able to transfer my contacts and calendar events, etc from my old phone to my new one without much hassle. And if I'm not wrong, using bluetooth, I don't even need to install any drivers for my phone (someone please correct me if I'm wrong as I have installed drivers for my K750i previously, so I can't say for sure) in order to use MPE.

No problems. Great software. I rely heavily on it, especially the backup. It's saved my life a few times!

Posted by gareb
Clearly prefer MPE after I tried the other stuff.

Posted by feek81

MyPhoneExplorer updated to 1.6.3

MyPhoneExplorer Version 1.6.3 :
-Kontakt- und Terminabgleich mit Lotus Notes
-AddIn für Microsoft Outlook (optional)
-PC-Lautstärke während dem Telefonieren automatisch reduzieren (optional)
-Direkte Druckfunktion für Kalender und Aufgaben
-Import von Siemens-SMS-Dateien (*.smi,*.smo)
-Postleitzahlendatenbank aktualisiert (Niederlande wurde hinzugefügt)
-Bugs behoben

Posted by max_wedge
what's the "outlook plugin"? I'm already syncing to outlook, is this new feature an Outlook add-in? and if so how does one install it?

Posted by zillertaler
With the Addin you have direct access from the contextmenu in Outlook contacts to call/send sms. You can enable it in the Advanced settings for Outlook-Contactsync.

I remember when I needed MobyExplorer for my K500, ah memories....... (but they weren't very positive ones). I also remember when I compressed all my MP3s down to a bitrate of 32

here's a question that prolly was answered before...

does MPE backs up everything or just contacts, tasks, etc?

what do you mean by everything? It doesn't back internal FS, phone settings etc. But it can backup user accessible files, contacts, calendar, tasks, messages, sim contacts, sim messages, and the sms archive in MPE.

Posted by tranced
Thanks. It's just that i was confused in what MPE does as a backup.

Posted by max_wedge
Cool. I wasn't sure of you realised it didn't have fs access, but I shoulda realised you would

Basically with mpe, you can backup all user data on the phone except mms and emails, notes and settings.

Posted by tranced
Ok. I dont care about mms, mails, settings.

Posted by max_wedge
I wouldn't mind mms backup/sync support - I receive my voicemails in my mms inbox (saves having to dial voice message number - it's like having push email for my voicemail, very handy)

No support for the P series

when i connect my phone with myphone explorer. Tell me if its possible, when somebody call me how to hear sound on my pc speakers.

Please help!

Thx!

Posted by M57
I am using MyPhoneExplorer to sync my google calendar with the phone one. Everything is going fine i just have one problem with it.

When i sync google created events to my phone it has the reminder option off on the phone.

Can anyone here help me out please.

Thanks

Posted by zillertaler
@Misko2006: This is only possible if you have a bluetooth-stick which supports the service "Audio-Gateway". Has nothing to do with MyPhoneExplorer

@M57: This is a known issue, the problem is that Google supports more than one alarm. This makes a bidirectional sync difficult. But maybe i find a way to integrate it in one of the next updates.

can i support the MPE developing with adding my language to app?? if i can please pm me?? i use "NGAPAK" language

Posted by zillertaler
Here you can find a small introduction how to create langaugefiles for MPE: http://www.fjsoft.at/en/Creating_languagefiles.htm

From where comes this language and how many people speak it ?

Posted by ferrysetiawa
after i create backup, can i view my backup file without connect my phone again? thanks

Posted by max_wedge
restore without synching

Posted by zillertaler
"restore without synching"
What do you mean with this ?

You can import the backupfile into the phonebook, organizer and sms-archive to see the data in it. Use rightclick to import files

Posted by max_wedge
Well, restore the data using "restore backup". But if he synch the data with his phone though, won't the restored data be copied to the phone? Meaning if you want to look at the backup, but not actually restore it to the phone, then restore but don't synch.

What kind of language is that? Never heard before even I live in Indonesia.

BTW, I still use version 1.6.0 of MPE and it does work with K850.

I really wish that this could work for symbian phones.. FMA always gives me some problem or the other...
