Hi guys
I've just started uni and I want to link my PC to my room-mate's PC, we're using a cable between the two PC's ethernet ports, but neither PC seems to recognise each other is there. All we want to do is to do some file-sharing and LAN gaming, if anybody can help I'd be very greatful.
Cheers

Is the ethernet cable crossed ?

A normal network cable wont work. You need a cross wired cable.

Go to microsoft help. There type in lan and click search. You will get a lot of help there. By the way... Which network adapter r u using?

We're using a crossover cable, through a realtek ethernet card

Are they both running XP? Check that they're both set to the same workgroup (eg. MSHOME) when you run the network setup wizard.
Also make sure that the Network cards on both PC's are installed properly in device manager.
