Friends, Nokia is striking fast...
A press conference has been scheduled for 3pm (Sweden) tomorrow at which time Nokia will officially present a couple of new phones.
One of which is the 3650. For those that want to take a first look, check out www.mobil.se
I guess SE will have to be fast if they want to make an impression with their P800...

Hmmm. Looks kind of weird. Especially in red like this.

It sports tri-band, GPRS, bluetooth, Java, integrated camera, etc and is in the low-price category!

on the contrary i am an se fan but this is realy a fresh and kinda new aproach to the phone setup and it has camera suports java mms and other things also its 130 mm high and has 130 grams so its lighter than 7650 and p 800 but i still will get the p 8oo do

Yep, agree. It's fresh looking (but still weirdo to me)
I like the keypad
But I don't like the top of the phone, too square, somehow it doesn't look balanced to me with the rest, but in real life, it could feel different.

With 130mm height it is bigger than P800 so an even bigger phone would not do it for me. I 'd go for P800!

Why is Nokia taking elements from ericsson phones into their design? Look at the earpiece... The three ericsson lines that the T68 has at its earpiece, maybe???
Also look at the curves and lines of the 6610, they are very reminiscent of the t68 as well as older ericsson phones...

why would nokia stop making the 33** range? its probably there most popular range, every where you go you see a 33** the next step in the range is colour screens and well most likley see one soon.

its a nokia ut will sell well and thats a fact because "joe public" love nokia they don't care about bluetooth,ir,cameras etc... they carry about names and price and nokia is great at telling people they've got a new toy on the market so if it comes out it will sell.

The 3650 is basically the low end model of the 7650 with a price region of €200 aimed mainly for youngsters. It is also java enabled. Don't expect this to come to market before the year end though. Expect another surprise tomorrow with the announcement of the old 3300 series being converted to colour screens as well.

Seriously, look at the 8210 and T68 (and if you go at earpiece detail level, check out the keypads). Btw, thes 3 lines of the earpiece date from 6210...
Find me one (Sony)Ericsson phone that looks like the 3xxx, or the 6xxx, or the 5xxx, or the 7xxx, or the 8xxx, or the 9xxx

oh did somebody heard about the new siemens 55 thing, thats a very good phone, but the display is 256 color, i think thats a bad thing, i want to ask a question, are the 7210 and 6610 displays TFT?

OK I dont know what you guys are on but i think you are wearing rose tinted glasses.
The phone is specced up to the limit. OK looks wise it might not be everyones cup of tea - but I think it looks better than p800 and will prob be MUCH cheaper - also runs with mmc's much better than generic sony memory sticks that SONY will make you pay through the nose for...
As far as I can see this will be the Phone that carries MMS to the mass market - I mean hhow many people honestly do you know that can actually afford a P800 and will actually buy one...
A phone is a "phone" its used to make calls and keep in contact as 99% of the consumer will acknowledge. So all the functions as you put it are not even used by 95%+ of mobile phone users which is why ultimately Nokia win come out on top. Nokia is going the right way about it - I havent seen any new SE phone doing this in fact they are prob just as ugly as the new Nokia ones.
Dont get me wrong I love my T68m(i) and nothing is out there that would tempt me to part with it for the time being. Oh well had my rant - just thought its very unfair all the criticisms that this new breakthrough phone is getting.

nokia wins, all there colour screen fones have mass maket appeal, 4000+ colours in the screen and they have express-on covers. this is what 99% of the public want so i have to say it sony ericssons future don't look to rosy from here on-wards

wait for the 3650i instead hehe...
now, after introducing the 3650, who will buy 6310i, 7210, 6610? maybe many people will be just wait for the new phone.

yes....too many selections, tend to make the nokia fans wait for the "i" version 24-hours later! and rehash again, and replace the so-called xpress-on cover. and release another "i" version. and then the recycling, etc. and yes....who'll buy the 8889, 84578, 5274616, 00894597, 725365, and the succeeding "i" versions of those???
right....all the features are standard. just a new but desperate design. sorry i am not admiring "followers". i'd rather admire innovators.... succesful innovators, may i add.

3650 is same as the 5510, i never saw anybody with a 5510, who cares about video, and it's non sense to have video playback in your phone and u can't send the video clips and slides as an MMS because nokia doesn't enable video slides.
this phone really sux, the best phone for nokia is 7650 and 7210 only.

The new "fancy/weird" Nokia phone is preliminary scheduled to be released begining of 2003.
As we all know delays are very common. Most likely not to come out before Q2 2003.
On the other end the P800 (Ericsson) is to be out on shops next month. Please note that P800 is an even more advanced phone that the new Nokia. By the way I had the opportunity of tried a propotype some time ago and ... IT'S GREAT !!!
This means that Nokia is still trailling Sony Ericsson (6 months delayed).
I do not know if this is enaught for Sony Ericsson to survive, but one thing is sure ... If Sony Ericsson ends the mobile phone technology will be at least 1/2 delayed.
