I bought the new mineral gray color of T68i.
I am wondering why my battery indicator on the screen only shows FULL, HALF, and EMPTY. While my friend who has an older model, shows INCREMENTS in battery life (meaning it can show it in FULL, 3/4 FULL, HALF, 1/4 FULL and EMPTY).
Is this the way the new version of software works? Is there a way to make mine that way?????

which version of software do you have?? I have R2E006 and my T68i works good with the battery indicator....
Look in service menu >*<<*<*< (< is jostik left and > jostik right) to check your version and tell us which ya have plis
Posted by nino4
I have the same software version R2E006.
My battery indicator works OK but it only shows 100%, 50% and 0%. It doesn't show anything in between like 75% or 60% or 20% etc. My friend who has an older T68i shoes these in between percentages.
Why is this?
Posted by veon18
That is funny....mine is with the old software R2B_025,and mine showed all 10 distinct levels of battery life remnants.(well...i personally have counted every single one of them)
It goes the same for my T68m with i software R2E

@nino4It seems something fault with ur t68i fone, not the battery.

@nino4
I agree with aurus, take it back to where ever you bought it and let them have a look at it.

Does the text "Optimized charging" appear when you plug-in your charger? If not, your phone has somehow failed to identify your battery as a Sony Ericsson original. This indification occurs everytime you power-on the phone.
Try to turn off the phone and turn it on again.
If this doesn't help, there could be something wrong with your battery.

Does anyone ever find that the standby/talk time is sometimes completely off the mark? I go off the battery icon as it appears to be somewhat more accurate...
But 100% to 50% to 0% that ain't good...
Posted by orthodoc
Definitely the battery standby time does not work. Its a useless feature. It shows 220 hrs standby time when fully charged, which is almost 9 days. Then half a day later, it shows 180 hrs. Then batt lasts for 3 days only! My batt indicator is more accurate- it shows the step by step decrease

yeah why is it like that? the battery indicator deems different from the status
Posted by kin0kin
Mayb is that the battery indicator calculates the standby time and talk time in terms of temperature, so if you on your lights or use it too oftenly in a row, it will drop very fast, later when it cools down it then goes back up a little. thats my own opinion
mine also last for 3 days only, and i think the phone can only last for the time indicated by the indicator is based on non usage basis, meaning that you just leave it there and do nothing to it, not even incoming calls. anyway the battery consumption rate also depends on where you live, in cold areas or in winter, battery tends to loss quickly and charge slowly moreover it depends on the operator's coverage, more energy is neede to establish a connection, yet it accounts to bluetooth, further the range higher the concumption rate

using it more often will increase battery life?
Posted by kin0kin
well for other batteries nope, but for SE yes, not sure why but SE's battery need to be seasoned it is like climbing a cliff. Going higher n higher then boom fall down again. but so far my 1 month old phone is only capable of sustaining to 3 days before next charge

Hello, does anyone's phone restart by itself because the loose battery connection ?
Posted by kin0kin
hhhmm should have this probelm, T68i is very solid built even nokia doesnt have this problem, you srue that is loose battery and not firmware problem?
Posted by chyeoh
Assuming not because i upgraded from R2B025 to R5D007 and the problem still exist
Posted by kin0kin
well u can hardly tell what is the real problem, if u bring to SE they will say it is mainly firmware problem, but i dun think it is true coz my R2B025 has no problem at all. battery loose? abit unacceptable unless your battery clip is ruined, otherwise it is hardware problem.
I had a Nokia 6510, had the same problem, i often update it to the latest software but still the problem exist.....i sold the phone and got my baby t68i. I am damn sure that it is a hardware problem for my 6510 for there was no fix eventhough i upgraded to the latest firmware, but for SE im not sure as i havent encountered such problem........touchwood.....i dun want it!
bring it to ericsserve in amcorp and have them tune your phone. request for a one to one exchange if the problem still exist after they tuned it

If the battery is not Original then the phone will only show full/half/empty.
To find out swap the battery from your freind's phone and see who is getting the correct indications.
I know this because i tried it on my phone.

Thank i agree with you although it is hard to swallow
Posted by jcpsad
well i agree with you that using it more often increases battery life... i just tried it... the sandby time is now up to 3 days...

yeah, batteries actually need to be seasoned, seasoned chicken taste better hehe

with reguards to the batery life i heard, but i dont know how true it is.....
if the cell signal strength in the area is weak the phone 'boosts' its output to full to try and compensate
if its got a full signal it runs on a lower out put
this means if you like in the big city next to a transmitter you will have a longer battery life, in the country or poor area it will be noticably less
i also recall someone saying the earlier 68 software had a better batery life over the 68i but i cant substatiate that one although my wifes 68i is charged more regular than my 68 but she leaves it in work and gets a 'sos only' signal there
any confirmation ?

i've got a t68i aand when i use the sony ericson t68i battery it shows the full 10 steps of battery life. i also boguht a rubber t68 battery (original) but with this it only shows the 3 steps. is it the phone's fault or is the t68 an alien battery?? that's what it says when it charges it.
Posted by jcpsad
maybe a t68 battery is not compatible with the t68i.. but does it really fit?
Posted by kin0kin
the bettery is same, everything is same just that the outer part is diff
Posted by rudeboymcc
well then why does teh phone not recognise it??
Posted by kin0kin
some said that SE built in something in the white BST-14 battery where the previous one doesnt have and which enables the phone to detect the battery's usage. You can try to put your battery in another T68i to check that if the problem still persist, if it does then try to put a white battery n test. the reasons that it cannot detect is basically:
1) the battery does not support detection by T68i
2) like some said, the circuit in the battery somewhat have problem
3) if same problem persist after testing with a white battery, then most probably that there is some short circuit with your T68i, try to bring it to any service centre and ask them to fix it
hope this helped

k well i tried in my sister's t68i and it still only has three steps of life, so it's the t68 battery that's at fault. but it still works.
Posted by gshanouda
well I have the t68m and I upgraded it to t68i, and everything work perfectully with the battery as no change at all...!
Posted by jcpsad
ok i'll buy the battery of t68i.... i kinda like the color
Posted by Chuck6730
I own both a T68 and a T68i and the battery seems to work witl all the steps and one does not seem to diminish faster than the other. I have even swapped batteries and not had any problems...

check these things:
- displaylight should be set to "Automatic" or "Off"
- Bluetooth should be set to "Off"
- Infrared should be set to "Off"
If it still has short standby, bring it to a servicepoint
Posted by jcpsad
hey MDS are you experiencing any problem using the m battery for the i?
Posted by [MDS]
no not at all. charging is fine and status reads at 280-300 hours mostly all the time... it is all good for me...
