http://www.movamail.com has a new JAVA email service that is much faster than the SE client. It also allows you to access mutiple email accounts including POP, IMAP and Webmail like Gmail. The service uses compression technology to decrease the amount of GPRS traffic and will save you money!

Just for kicks, I tried it on my 9500 communicator and it works well. Its also quite fast.
But of course, as I expected, its something targeted at more regular phones. It doesn't scratch the 9500's built-in mail system one bit.
If I were using a less capable device, I'd likely keep it. Its recommended - at least to the limits of my personal experimentation.
